SAVE THE BEES

Imagine sitting in a lovely field of grass having a picnic. The birds are singing; the bees are buzzing all in perfect harmony. You see that your picnic has a variety of foods such as watermelon, vegetable pasta, grilled kabobs, and a nice refreshing lemonade. Well, guess what, did you know all that came from bees? Yeah, they are little tiny pollinators that help the plants grow and make our food. They're really amazing, but the bad part is people are not taking care of them. People use pesticides on their lawns, they destroy bee habitats, and they buy conventionally grown produce, which is mostly grown with neonicotinoids coated seeds, leading to death of bees . So we should help take care of them, and I'm going to tell you how the bees help us and how we can all help them.

Bees are very helpful creatures that help us get the food we need to stay healthy. They pollinate flowers and other plants to grow the food so it’s good and healthy for us, but how to find the flowers to pollinate? Well nectar from flowers gives out small electrical charges, so that helps the bees find the flowers . Also did you know that bees communicate with each other through dancing and that they use the nectar from the plants to give us that sweet honey that we all enjoy?

These characteristics of bees help us humans and other organisms survive on Earth. The only sad thing is how humans treat them such as using pesticides that confuse the bees, habitat deconstruction, and even kill them. For example NRDC the Natural Resources Defence Council states that neonics are more toxic than other chemicals, “In fact, some of the neonics are 5,000 to 10,000 times more toxic than DDT”. Furthermore, these chemicals are going to keep on killing bees, and sooner or later, there will be no more bees on the planet.

But there is a way that we can all help keep bees alive and healthy. One way is that we can all plant a variety of organic flowers that can attract bees to pollinate them. Another way is that we can buy organic food so it may decrease the demand of crops treated with pesticides, and give some natural light to our backyards to bring back the tiny creatures that help. Another example is from NRDC as they state you can donate money to help keep the bees, “When you contribute, you’ll be joining our network of three million Members and online activists”. Therefore, we should keep the bees alive and healthy ,so we can have all the delicious variety of foods that we eat every day.

So in conclusion we should help the bees as they have done so much for us like pollinating our food making it healthy for us. They are really a creature to recognize. For example, without them we won’t have good food and cotton which is mostly what people still wear.
